Our UN-approved pallet boxes: categories

Our UN-approved pallet boxes can be divided into the following categories. Each category is approved for a specific application or hazard class.

• UN 2794, class 8
  This class refers to wet lead-acid batteries filled with acid. Due to the corrosive sulfuric acid these batteries contain, the transport of these goods requires special packaging, markings, and documentation according to ADR 4.1.4.1 P801 and P801a. For this, we supply the following plastic pallet boxes with matching stickers:
  • Accubox / BIG BOX 1200 x 800 mm
  • Accubox / BIG BOX 1200 x 1000 mm

• UN 3480 and 3481
  This class refers to the transport of lithium-ion batteries; unpackaged (UN3480) or packed with equipment (UN3481). These are classified as hazardous substances (Class 9). The packaging must meet specific packaging requirements. For this purpose, we supply various plastic pallet boxes with pallet lid; suitable for packing groups I, II, and III:

  • CB3 plastic pallet box 1200 x 1000 x H740 mm – UN 11H2 (X) approved
  • CB3 High plastic pallet box 1200 x 1000 x H1140 mm – UN 11H2 (X) approved
  • SB3 plastic pallet box 1200 x 1000 x H790 mm – UN 11H2 (X) approved
  • CB1 plastic pallet box 1200 x 800 x H740 mm – UN 50H (X) approved
  • CB3 plastic pallet box 1200 x 1000 x H740 mm – UN 50H (X) approved
  • CB3 High plastic pallet box 1200 x 1000 x H1140 mm – UN 50H (X) approved
  • SB3 plastic pallet box 1200 x 1000 x H790 mm – UN 50H (X) approved

• Various UN hazard classes; targeting different types of hazardous substances with moderate risk.
  For this application, we supply plastic pallet boxes with pallet lid; suitable for packing groups II and III:

UN-approved pallet boxes: safe storage and transport

What are UN-approved pallet boxes?

UN-approved pallet boxes are specially designed for the safe storage and transport of hazardous goods. They are robust and made from high-quality plastic (HDPE), meeting the strict requirements of the UN approval, making them suitable for transporting hazardous solids.

All UN-approved plastic pallet boxes must display a code indicating:

1. The type of packaging:
   • 4H2: a plastic container with removable (and lockable) pallet lid
   • 11H2: a plastic pallet box with removable (and lockable) pallet lid
   • 50H: a large plastic pallet box with removable (and lockable) pallet lid
2. The category of solids the box is approved for:
   • ‘X’ for the most dangerous substances in packing groups I, II, and III
   • ‘Y’ for moderately dangerous substances in packing groups II and III
   • ‘Z’ for the least dangerous substances in packing group III
3. Additionally, the UN boxes indicate: the production year, the approval institute and its nationality, the test report number, and the maximum gross weight.

Which box for which application

Our plastic pallet boxes are UN-approved and certified for solids in packing groups I, II, and III. Each pallet box is also approved for different packaging types: code 4H2, code 11H2, and code 50H.

For example, the SB3 pallet box can be certified for packaging type 11H2 (plastic pallet box with removable and lockable pallet lid) and packaging type 50H (large plastic pallet box with removable and lockable pallet lid). In both applications, the SB3 box is approved for category X – the most dangerous substances in packing groups I, II, and III.

Available sizes and designs
