Description

Lithium batteries and accumulators can ignite during transport if improperly packaged. Short-circuits or fires can occur due to damage or charging after deep discharge. Lithium batteries and accumulators are classified as hazardous materials. Our battery boxes are certified for hazardous materials, Class X (including Y and Z). Lithium batteries and accumulators are found in various devices such as mobile phones, tablets, tools, electric bikes, and even toys. Li-batteries and accumulators can be safely stored and transported in our UN-certified reusable distribution containers.

The battery box is filled with approximately 10 kilograms of Silicon dioxide granulate pellets. The batteries or accumulators are placed between bags of granulate pellets. In the event of a fire or a certain temperature, the granulate pellets melt, forming a layer over the fire source or the heated battery. This prevents oxygen from reaching the fire, preventing a rekindling of the fire. During this process, heat is absorbed, and the fire is cooled. Any released liquids are absorbed by the melted mass, leaving no extinguishing damage.

The battery container has two hinged lid halves that close together in the middle of the container. Once closed, the lid is securely fastened with the tension strap attached to the battery box. The UN-certified distribution containers are nestable when empty without granulate pellets and stackable with a closed lid.

Instructions for use:

  1. Avoid short-circuits by taping the battery terminals.
  2. Place the batteries approximately 6 to 7 centimeters apart and from the side wall in the battery box with granulate pellets.
  3. Fill the free spaces between the batteries and the side walls with bags of granulate pellets.
  4. Also place granulate bags on top of the batteries. This ensures the batteries are covered on all sides and cannot shift.
  5. Close the lid of the battery box and lock it with the tension strap.
  6. Clearly display the UN number on the outside of the battery box. Ensure the card with the UN number is weather-resistant.

Note: If the battery box has an unusually high temperature or a corrosive odor, remove the contents only with proper protection. Damaged battery boxes are not suitable for the storage and transport of hazardous materials. Uncontaminated granulate can be reused. Contaminated granulate must be disposed of as waste, following applicable guidelines.
