Description
This air vent valve is specifically designed for use on plastic barrels and tanks. The lid of these barrels and tanks is equipped with a standard opening of Ø 18 mm, which is normally sealed with a screw cap. By unscrewing and removing the cap, the air vent valve can easily be inserted into the opening. The valve fits perfectly into the existing opening beneath the screw cap, allowing for quick installation without the need for tools.
The air vent valve ensures the controlled release of gases from the barrel or tank. During fermentation processes, bacteria produce carbon dioxide. This gas can escape through the valve, preventing pressure build-up inside the container. Without proper ventilation, internal pressure could increase and potentially cause deformation or damage to the barrel.
At the same time, the valve prevents oxygen from the outside air from entering the container. This is essential during fermentation and storage processes, as oxygen can lead to spoilage and mould formation. The valve therefore helps maintain a stable and hygienic storage environment.
